half naked fakir's take on civilization...

i was reading a book Hind Swaraj by my beloved Bapu ..just go thru his take on wat civilization is all about...

it is too good i felt...it takes time but worth reading..especially if u r gandhi hater..

Let us first consider what state of things is described by the word "civilization". Its true test lies in the fact that people living in it make bodily welfare the object of life. We will take sonic examples. The people of Europe today live in better-build houses than they did a hundred years ago. This is considered an emblem of civilization, and this is also a matter to promote bodily happiness. Formerly, they wore skins, and used spears as their weapons. Now, they wear long trousers, and, for embellishing their bodies, they wear a variety of clothing, and, instead of. spears, they carry with them revolvers containing five or more chambers. If people of a certain country, who have hitherto not been in the habit of wearing much clothing, boots, etc., adopt European clothing, they are supposed to have become civilized out of savagery. Formerly, in Europe, people ploughed their lands mainly by manual labor. Now, one man can plough a vast tract by means of steam engines and can thus amass great wealth. This is called a sign of civilization. Formerly, only a few men wrote valuable books. Now, anybody writes and prints anything he likes and poisons people's minds. Formerly, men traveled in wagons. Now, they fly through the air in trains at the rate of four hundred and more miles per day. This is considered the height of civilization. It has been stated that, as men progress, they shall be able to travel in airship and reach any part, of the world in a few hours. Men will not need the use of their hands and feet. They will press a button, and they will have their clothing by their side. They will press another button, and they will have their newspaper. A third, and a motor-car will be in waiting for them. They will have a variety of delicately dished up food. Everything will be done by machinery. Formerly, when people wanted to fight with one another, they measured between them their bodily strength; now it is possible to take away thousands of lives by one man working behind a gun from a hill. This is civilization. Formerly, men worked in the open air only as much as they liked. Now thousands of workmen meet together and for the sake of maintenance work in factories or mines. Their condition is worse than that of beasts. They are obliged to work, at the risk of their lives, at most dangerous occupations, for the sake of millionaires. Formerly, men were made slaves under physical compulsion. Now they are enslaved by temptation of money and of the luxuries that money can buy. There are now diseases of which people never dreamt before, and an army of doctors is engaged in finding out their cures, and so hospitals have increased. This is a test of civilization. Formerly, special messengers were required and much expense was incurred in order to send letters; today, anyone can abuse his fellow by means of a letter for one penny. True, at the same cost, one can send one's thanks also. Formerly, people had two or three meals consisting of home-made bread and vegetables; now, they require something to eat every two hours so that they have hardly leisure for anything else. What more need I say'? All this you can ascertain from several authoritative books. These are all true tests of civilization. And if anyone speaks to the contrary, know that he is ignorant. This civilization takes note neither of morality nor of religion. Its votaries calmly state that their business is not to teach religion. Some even consider it to be a superstitious growth. Others put on the cloak of religion, and prate about morality. But, after twenty years' experience, I have come to the conclusion that immorality is often taught in the name of morality. Even a child can understand that in all I aye described above there can be no inducement to morality. Civilization seeks to increase bodily comforts, and it fails miserably even in doing so.
This civilization is irreligion, and it has taken such a hold on the people in Europe that those who are in it appear to be half mad. They lack real physical strength or courage. They keep up their energy by intoxication. They can hardly be happy in solitude. Women, who should be the queens of households, wander in the streets or they slave away in factories. For the sake of a pittance, half a million women in England alone are laboring under trying circumstances in factories or similar institutions. This awful act is one of the causes of the daily growing suffragette movement.
This civilization is such that one has only to be patient and it will be self-destroyed. According to the teaching of Mohammed this would be considered a Satanic Civilization. Hinduism calls it a Black Age. I cannot give you an adequate conception of it. It is eating into the vitals of the English nation. It must be shunned. Parliaments are really emblems of slavery. If you will sufficiently think over this, you will entertain the same opinion and cease to to blame the English. They rather deserve our sympathy. They are a shrewd nation and I therefore believe that they will cast off the evil. They are enterprising and industrious, and their mode of thought is not inherently immoral. Neither are they bad at heart. I therefore respect them. Civilization is not an incurable disease, but it should never be forgotten that the English are at present afflicted by it.

Discipline Durga...

The goddess who wanted to teach us discpline was all alive roaming in a personal form.Indira Gandhi..she ruled india from 1966-1977 ..ooops sorry democratcially elected. One of the really good things in this time i can remember is the way she handled pakistan..though i am of the school which thinks INDIA should have extracted more than bangla desh from that war..the other noteworthy things are green revolution, nationalizing our banks..which yes really helped .. and the "project tiger" ..hats off to her ...

Coming to late years(1975's) of her rule..here was a leader completely transformed from her previous years...where the whims and fancies of an indivdual and a single family where kept above the interests of the nation.A leader so hell bent on teaching the nation about discipline...when was the time this discipline was brought abt..it came just in the nick of time wen a court was about to conivct her.. from there on..this self-appointed perfectionist went abt to kill every thing that was indian..newspapers,religious leaders, opposition govnmnts, fundamental rights of Indian citizens, everything that have a chance of opposing her.One of the supporters for such trampling of freedom was that evangelist teresa...

how nicely all these people believe that india ia anarchy, anarchy is india....so the public appointed nationalist slogan was india is indira ,indira is india same in the lines of hilter is germany ,germany is hitler.

The RSS recent opinion abt indira has made me write this and put my view ..and in my view she cannot be considered as the best ..and it is PV Narasimha Rao ..whom i consider should be the best candidate..for his dare devil stunt of opening up the economy ..and the various changes he has brought upon.

The result of that dictatorship ,congress as a party is still paying the price ..the only reason i dislike congress is bcoz of The Family..Congress has many clever politcians ..it doesn't have people with leadership qualities..or are they too afraid..bcoz of the Ghost of Emergency.

Something from nothing..

I have always been preplexed with one question.."Hey buddy!! wat's up ?? wat r u doing? " ..after they knowing pretty well how my life is going with my academics and the burden of this energetic youth which pretty much consists of watching movies ,gossip sessions ,playing footer and cricket ,eating 24x7 etc..

Why do i have to do something..if everybody is doing something who will do nothing ...so i(the one solution for all problems) have taken up this sacred duty of doing nothing.i always do nothing..

"hey dude watta u upto now-a-days??"
"nothing." pat comes the reply.

I have always believed in "late to bed and late to rise" and i am quite disappointed to see the ignorant, dumb world following some other adage..which they think is a piece of wisdom.I have been quite successful in my life following this wise saying. This also shows my refusal to be enslaved to the movements of one inarticulate sphere on which u and me are apparently standing upon..this is real freedom..wat else i want freedom ..freedom from my limitations.

There is one more proverb which i have hit upon..."The one sure way of being center of attraction is be late"...the common man doesn't know this..he wastes all his health and strength to earn money and after that he uses that money to gain his lost strength and health..the mad pursuit in between was to be famous ..to be the cynosure of all eyes..all u have to do is be late
see the politcians, the page 3 dumbers, fake godmen,..all they have done in their life was being late wherever they go..and no wonder the world is after them..all i say is "be late..be famous"

Being vague, pointless popularly called as being different..can anybody match me...??

FIAsco

Wat has hapened to my fav sport...every tom dick and harry are commenting on the very credibility of F1.
I accept there has been considerable image damage after the farce of USGP..but i see stupid people blaming F1..the real culprit is michelin..the tyre supplier for 7 teams is the one who has to be blamed and they are the ones who to pay back for all the suits that are being filed against "poor" Bernie.I hope he comes with up a practical soultion to the mess that has been created by an incompetent tyre manufacturer. There are people who always wantede single tyre supplier.. imagine wat would it have been had michelin been that selected supplier...F1 would have been doomed now it is reduced to north america.

See the ridiculosness in the argument of the michelin tyre driven teams..chicane ..for their sheer techincal incompetence they want the track changed and the FIA has rightly shown the middle finger..Everybody knows it is has to be tested properly by the engineers before it has been allowed..that time was not at all there..and these are the teams which were upholding f1 spirit..bullshit.

The world is mostly made up of losers,so when ever there is a team which wins all the time..these losers can never support it..so are the anti-fans of ferrari.Todt had to bear with all this farce and apparently he is the one who has brought disrespute to the game..and schumi who just doing his normal thing is quipped as a cheap person after points..all they have done is they brought the correct set of tyres and were prepared for the race.

Schumi classic quote after the race " i have won 84 races.i can afford one strange one"..he is a class apart..if u don't know he is biggest donor in the world for the tsunami rehabiltion work..Shumi is GOD..

however, i support kimi .. i too want a change..haha...

I was pained to see jordan and minardi getting points ..by which their costs will be covered for the race..they certainly don't deserve that..and narain ..claiming it to be a genuine race has given INDIA it's first f1 points...big joke dude.

Wat ever michelin sucked big time and it has to be banned from the next year or so..if possible even in this season.
